JOHN R. CASEY John R. Casey, loving husband and father, passed away at his home in Westport CT on Tuesday, August 5th, after a brief battle with cancer. John was born June 11, 1966 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Economics from the University of Connecticut and had a very successful career in the finance and insurance industries. John was a pioneer in his field. He had many notable accomplishments and one that particularly stands out was being the first and only person to conceptualize, engineer and execute a securitization of private equity while at AON Capital Partners. John’s interests were varied, but the passion with which he pursued them was consistent. One of his earliest passions was cars. John loved cars and with his keen sense of humor had just received a custom license plate that said “goodbye”, (Meant to those in the rearview mirror). He was eagerly looking forward to affixing it to his dream car, an orange Porsche 911 GT3. John loved boating and specifically, he loved fishing the waters of Long Island Sound. To the pleasure of all his friends, he was also a gourmet chef and loved to entertain friends and family. John was an excellent athlete and loved sports and fitness. His favorite sporting activities included watching the Red Sox and Patriots with his son, William; and watching his daughter, Elizabeth, an avid equestrian, jump the fences. John took up Karate later in life and had just recently earned his second degree black belt with his son, William. John’s biggest passion in life was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie; his son, William (13) and daughter, Elizabeth (11). He is also survived by his mother, Judith, his father, John, and siblings Karen, Jeff, and Jennifer from Salisbury North Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday August 16, 2014 at Church of the Assumption, 98 Riverside Avenue Westport, CT 06880.
